On Monday, July 27,2020, Jacqueline White Burley, 85 of Bradenton, Florida passed away peacefully, at her daughter’s home, surrounded by her family. Jacqueline was born 11-20-1934, in Oxon Hill, MD, she was the daughter of the late Jerry M. Courtney and the late Margaret Francis Courtney (Sheriff).

On May 11, 1950, she married Stephen A. White, Jr. (Buck). Together they proudly raised two sons, Stephen A. White III and Michael H. White & three daughters Sherill L. Cease, Kathy L. White-Thorne, and Margaret E. Kocher. They shared their life’s journey for 45 years, until the death of her beloved husband in April of 1995. She later wed Charles A. Burley, Jr.

“Jackie” as she was known to her family and friends, was a visionary and a pioneer. There was nothing she couldn’t do once she set her sights on it. She started her career in sales of styled clothing, was an avid gardener, appreciated history and loved to travel. Education was important to her and she instilled that ideal into not only her children but into her grandchildren and great grandchildren as well. Jackie was noted to tell them all “Knowledge is power.” She instilled lessons of perseverance and encouraged them all to endeavor to always be willing to try and if necessary, to TRY AGAIN, until they reached their goals and then she would tell them to set NEW goals. Jackie believed ALL THINGS were possible with some hard work and determination. She believed in community and served the Ladies Auxiliary of the Oxon Hill Volunteer Fire Department. In 1974, after many years in various sales positions, Jackie discovered her gift, selling real estate. In a profession predominantly saturated by men at the time, Jackie’s hard-working spirit and determination to ALWAYS do her best, found her quickly rising to the top and selling homes for unprecedented amounts and becoming a recognized professional amongst her peers, becoming an icon for REMAX. After retiring in 1995, she continued to enjoy gardening (a passion adopted by her children), traveling and treasuring all life had to offer. She was witty, stylish and always looking for her next great adventure. Jackie was preceded in death by her parents and her first husband Buck White and two grandchildren (Jacqueline F. White and Stephen T. White). She is survived by her current husband Charles A. Burley, Jr., her children Stephen A. White (Carol), Michael H. White (Linda), Sherill L. Cease (Larry), Kathy L. White-Thorne (Ronnie), Margaret E. Kocher (Butch), her Grandchildren, Courtney A White, Christopher M. Cease, Jack O’Steen, Malorie L. Kraft and her five Great- Grandchildren, Taylor White, Jessica White, Adelyn Cease, Nina Cease and Angelina O’Steen.
