James Benjamin Russell, Jr., 84, of Leonardtown, MD, died July 14, 2007 at his residence.

Born August 9, 1922 in Leonardtown, MD, he was the son of the late James B. Russell, Sr. and Mary Blanch Murray Russell. Mr. Russell served his country in the United States Marine Corps in the Asiatic Pacific Area from August 14, 1944 to April 29, 1946 participating in action against the enemy on Iwo Jima from February 24, 1945 to March 16, 1945. He was a farmer. Mr. Russell was a past member of the Leonardtown Lions Club and the Country Music Club.

He is survived by his wife, Anita Long Russell of Leonardtown, MD, two sons, Richard F. Russell and Michael W. Russell of Leonardtown, MD, 5 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and a brother, Paul V. Russell of Tampa, FL.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 18, 2007 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. in the Brinsfield Funeral Home, P.A. in Leonardtown, MD. Prayers will be recited at 6:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, July 19, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. in St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Leonardtown, MD. The Reverend John Dakes will be the celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Aloysius Church Cemetery, Leonardtown, MD.

Serving as pallbearers will be Kenneth R. Russell, Kyle P. Russell, Dickie Russell, Joseph Bowles, Edward Long and Joseph L. Hayden.
