On January 23, 2009 Jonathan Richardson Caless returned to his loving Heavenly Father, at age 52. He was born on January 30, 1956 in Burtonwood Lanashire, England to Thomas W. Caless and Willma L. Hartman. He was the younger brother to Shelley L. Thomas of Bowie, MD. Jon graduated from Parkdale High School of Riverdale, MD in 1974. He then served a two year mission in Costa Rica for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. After his return he met and married his beloved wife Lorie A. Cooper. They were sealed together for time and all eternity on August 26, 1978 in the Washington D.C. Temple. They both attended BYU and welcomed their first child Joshua L. Caless into their family in 1980. Jon graduated from BYU with a Bachelor of Science in Geology. Jon and Lorie then welcomed their second childe Rachel R. Caless, while attending Virginia Tech. where he received his Masters Degree. Their third child Tamara E. Caless, arrived one week prior to the beginning of Jon’s 23 year career with the CIA. He enjoyed all that nature had to offer. Hiking, rafting, biking, snorkeling, scuba diving, skiing and world traveling with his wife were his favorites. Jon’s happiest moments in life were spending time with his family, watching his two grandsons enjoy childhood, and his many years of service in The Curch of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He lived a full and successful life during his time here on Earth. He was a man of faith, integrity, and honor. His exemplary life has inspired and will continue to do so. He is deeply loved and missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his wife Lorie, children Josh (Sara), Rachel, and Tamara, grandsons Cayden and Adam and sister Shelley (Tommy). Visitation will be from 4-8 pm Friday, January 30, 2009 and again from 9-11 am Saturday, January 31, 2009. The service will follow the visitation on Saturday, January 31, 2009 at 11 am. Both visitations and the service will take place at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints located at 4560 Padgett Rd. White Plains, MD 20695. In lieu of flowers, consider a donation to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Humanitarian Fund or the church Missionary Fund made payable to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, addressed to Bishop Duane Volk, 2348 Tawney Dr. Waldorf, MD 20601.
