Joseph Ellsworth Young “Little Flicka / Joe”, 57 of Waldorf, MD. Joseph departed this life on November 21, 2008 at Civista Hospital in Laplata, MD. Born March 18, 1951 in Leonardtown,MD, he was the son of Joseph Henry and Josephine Young of Leonardtown, MD. He is also survived by a sister, Cathy Young-Parker and her husband Frederick Parker Jr. of Callaway, MD. In addition he is survived by his longtime companion Greta Barnes. Joseph attended St. Mary’s County private and public schools. He later trained himself to become a self employed skilled masonry. He loved his work and anything to do with carpentry. He loved watching drag racing at the track or on the television. In his younger days he owned a black Dodge Dart and a yellow & black Mopar Road Runner. Joseph also enjoyed watching basketball and football, he was a Redskins fan. He enjoyed traveling and loved to spend time with his family and friends. Joseph was a mighty fine dresser, always sharp as a tack. Joseph is survived by his children; Denise Young-Woodland (Myron) of Mechanicsville, Joseph Young (Michelle) of Lexington Park, John Young of Lexington Park, Marvin Young of Lexington Park, Wayne Stewart (Tammy) of Loveville, and Javonne Young of Leonardtown; 15 Grandchildren; Zhane, Myresha, A’Jasa, Jo’Shelle, Jacob, Jounaze, Brianna, Charae’, Demarvea, Keyaira, Lamani, Dominique, Wayne, Jalen, and Kaylyn as well as a host of nieces and nephews and one God-Daughter, Karen Camp. He was preceded in death by his sister, Florine Herbert. In addition, Joseph also helped to raise 6 other children; Tara, David, Devon, Lenden, Lenisha, and Cassandra. The family will receive friends on Saturday, December 6, 2008 from 9:30 – 10:30 AM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home, Leonardtown, MD where a Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 AM with Fr. Keith Woods officiating. Interment will follow in Charles Memorial Gardens.
