Margaret (Maggie) Mary Johnson, 97, of Morganza, MD, formerly from Washington, DC passed away on July 4, 2016 in Leonardtown, MD. Born on July 17, 1918, she was the daughter of the late Mary Agnes Crown Graves, and Elmer Joseph Graves. Margaret was preceded in death by her husband James Maurice Johnson on January 29, 1985, and whom she married on November 26, 1946 in Washington, DC. Margaret is survived by her son James M. Johnson of Bishop, GA, and grandson: Michael P. Johnson. She was preceded in death by her siblings: Joseph F. Graves and Helen T. Bowles. She graduated from Notre Dame High School in 1935, and moved from Washington, DC to St. Mary’s County, MD in September, 1989. Margaret worked as an Administrative Assistant for Department of Defense for 30 years retiring in September, 1980.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 6, 2016 from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM with prayers recited at 7:00 PM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home Leonardtown, MD. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, July 7, 2016 at 10:00 AM in St. Aloysius Catholic Church Leonardtown, MD with Father David Beaubien officiating. Interment will follow in Charles Memorial Gardens Leonardtown, MD. Pallbearers will be: Michael Bowles, Tommy Bowles, Dylan Bowles, Charles Mattingly, Billy Johnson, and Joseph Johnson.
