Margaret Wolf Milburn., 87, of St. Mary’s City, MD, died August 29, 2004 in St. Mary’s Hospital. She was born July 8, 1917 in Baltimore, MD, to the late Mary Frances Murphy and Charles Franklin Wolf, Sr. She was the devoted mother of Dale H. Milburn of Aldie, VA and grandmother to Dale Allen Milburn and Jennifer Marie Milburn both of Georgia. She had one brother, Charles Franklin Wolf, Jr. While living in Baltimore, she attended elementary school at No. 99 Baltimore and went on to Eastern High and Clifton Park. When her family moved to St. Mary’s County in 1933, she attended Great Mills High School and then St. Mary’s Seminary. Margaret completed her schooling at Mary Washington College in Fredericksburg, VA and during the summer she attended sessions at John Hopkins University. Her first teaching position was at Little Red Schoolhouse in Charlotte Hall. For three years Margaret taught all grades at the school and boarded nearby with the Chesley’s. On December 24, 1945 Margaret was married to Everett Hopkins Milburn at Trinity Episcopal Church in St. Mary’s City by Rev. Nelson Maconomy. Margaret was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church where she taught Sunday school for several years. After her marriage she began teaching in the primary grades at Ridge Elementary School with Mrs. Ethel Raley teaching the upper grades. Upon Mrs. Raley’s retirement, Margaret taught all grades, remaining there for three years. After World War II, Margaret began teaching at Great Mills Elementary and continued teaching the children of Great Mills for 31 years. The family will receive friends today Wednesday, September 1st in St. Mary’s Episcopal Church in Ridge from 5 รข?? 7 PM with prayers being said at 7:00 PM. A funeral service will be held on September 2nd at 10:00 AM in St. Mary’s Episcopal Church. Interment will follow in Trinity Episcopal Cemetery.
