Mark Layson Hancock, 25, of Charlotte Hall died Oct.2, 2003, at Shady Grove Adventist Hospital. He was a apprentance steam fitter for Heffron Mechanical Company. He like to fish, was a Redskins football fan and loved his family. Born July 5, 1978 he was the son of Layson A. Hancock and Patricia B. Hancock; He is preceded in death by his sons, Ethan Tyler Hancock, and Wyatt Layson Hancock; and daughter, Kayla Brooke Hancock; grandparents, Lee Hancock, Earl Braun; and Franklin and Betty Plummer. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Kelly Leigh Hancock; son, Cole E. Hancock; brothers, Patrick and his wife, Jill Hancock; Michael and his wife, Beth Hancock; sister, Alison Bode and her husband, David Bode; father-in-law, Jimmy Plummer; mother-in-law, Darlene Plummer; grandparents, Emma Braun, and Arline and Shirley Kirkland; brother-in-law, Jamie Plummer and his wife, Patricia; and sister-in-law, Jesica Gardner and her husband, James; 17 nieces and nephews. Visitation was held Sunday, Oct. 5 from 4-8 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of La Plata, where services were held Monday at 11 a.m. The Rev. William Miller officiated. Burial took place at Trinity Memorial Gardens, Waldorf. Memorial contributions may by made to Cole E. Hancock Memorial Trust Fund. Arrangements were handled by Arehart-Echols Funeral Home, La Plata.
