Born on May 15, 1939 in Maddox, MD to the late Mary Katherine and Freddy Higgs. She worked as an Administrative Clerk for the International Machinists Union before retiring in 1993. Her interests included geneology, dolls and flowers. She was of the Episcopal faith and a member of the St. John’s United Episcopal Church of Sandgates.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Mattingly is preceded in death by her husband John H. Mattingly, Jr.; sister Alice Higgs; brother Clevie Higgs.
She is survived by her daughter Kimberly Ann Ryce of Mechanicsville, MD; sons Daniel W. Ryce Jr. and Richard A. Ryce both of Mechanicsville, MD; stepdaughter Mary L. Lecomle of Peyton, CO; sister Darlene Higgs of Shreveport, LA; brothers Jerry Higgs of Lusby, MD and Andy Higgs of Damascus, MD; grandchildren Jennifer, Wesley, April, Amanda, Heather, Derek and Devin; great grandchildren Destiny, Lane, Alex, Kyle and one due in September 2005.
Friends received on Sunday, May 15, 2005 from 2PM to 6PM with Prayers at 7PM at the Brinsfield-Echols Funeral Home, P.A. 30195 Three Notch Road Route 5 Charlotte Hall, MD where funeral services will be held on Monday, May 16, 2005 at 10AM. Interment Sacred Heart Church Cemetery Bushwood, MD. Pallbearers are Wesley Ryce, Kenny Ryce, Jerry Higgs, Tony Higgs, Mickey Ryce and Jimmy Ryce.
