He was born on November 19, 1954 in Washington, DC, the son of Frank Starr and Margaret Janet Harris Gatton of Hollywood, MD.
Mr. Gatton served his country from1971 until 1974 in the United States Army. He later worked as a drywall finisher and estimator for the Evans Drywall and Houston Drywall Companies. He attended St. John Francis Regis Catholic Church.
In addition to his parents he is survived by his wife Theresa Lee Smith Gatton whom he married on June 3, 1972 at the Mount Calvary Catholic Church, in Forestville, MD, a daughter, Angela Marie Howe of Hollywood, MD and a son Michael Starr Gatton of Leonardtown, MD, three brothers, Marvin J. Gatton, Frank J. Gatton and Christopher Gatton, all of Lusby, MD, a sister, Janet Norton of White Plains, MD, four grandchildren, Mercedes Nichole Howe, Sheldon Starr Howe, Brendan Starr Gatton and David Michael Foley. A brother J.P. Gatton preceded him in death.
Friends may call on Friday July 18, 2003 from 9:00 until 11:00 am at the Brinsfield Funeral Home, P.A. 22955 Hollywood, Road, Leonardtown, MD. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am with the Reverend John Dillon from St. John Francis Regis Catholic Church, Hollywood, MD officiating. Interment will follow at the Maryland Veterans Cemetery, Cheltenham, MD.
