Mrs. Mildred Estelle Nutwell Thompson, age 97, and a 63-year resident of Old Blandford Place, Hughesville, Maryland died Wednesday, July 16, 2003, at Civista Medical Center in La Plata, Md. She was born May 7, 1906 in Washington, DC and was the oldest of 9 children of the late Spencer Harrison Nutwell and Patty Joy Nutwell. Mildred was a member of Old Fields Chapel Episcopal Church in Hughesville for many years and an active member of the St. Agnes Guild for over three decades. She was a telephone operator for the C and P Telephone Company as well as a homemaker and mom. Mildred has touched the lives of so many people and will be loved and missed by all who knew her.

In addition to her parents, her husband of 53 years, James Henry Thompson Sr. and her daughter Jo Ann Guy precedes her in death.

She is survived by her daughters, Joy T. Consalvo-Goldsmith of Mechanicsville, Md. and Judith L. Lahocki of Gambrills, Md.; son, James H. Thompson, Jr. of Hughesville, Md; sisters, Phyllis A. Kogok of Berwyn Heights, Md. and Georgianna N. Matthews of Woodbridge, Va.; Brother, Neil A. Nutwell of Clinton, Md.; 19 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren and 7 great great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM Sunday, July 20, 2003 at the Brinsfield-Echols Funeral Home, P.A. 30195 Three Notch Rd. Charlotte Hall, Md. Funeral service will be at Old Fields Episcopal Church at 12:00 PM Monday, July 21, 2003, Rev. Elle Brown officiating. Interment will be at Old Fields Episcopal Church Cemetery in Hughesville, Md. Pallbearers are her grandchildren: James H. Thompson, III of Hughesville, Gary O. Thompson of Hughesville, Linda J. Consalvo of St. Petersburg, Fl., Dennis A. Guy of Hughesville, Douglas W. Guy of Hughesville and James Lahocki of Plymouth, Ma.
