Neal Herbert Larson, 57, of Charlotte Hall died March 6, 2005, in La Plata. Born May 12, 1947, in Washington, D.C., he was the son of the late Roy Otto Larson and the late Lorraine O’Neal Larson. Mr. Larson was a civil engineer and vice president of KCI Technologies, where he worked from 1973 until his retirement. He was a gradute of Bullis Prep and attended Wake Forest and George Washington Universities. As a member and past president of the Rotary Club of Charles County, he had perfect attendance for 22 years and was a prominent organizer of the group’s annual lobster feast. Inspired by his own battle against addiction, he was an advocate of alcohol and drug rehabilitation. He was involved in Alcoholics Anonymous groups throughout Charles County and server as executive director and president of the board of directors of Jude House in the early 1990s. He belonged to the Harley Davidson Owners Group of Mechanicsville and was certified as a master gardener by the state of Maryland. He is survived by his children, Michael Keith Larson and wife, Elizbeth, of New York City, Christopher Andrew Larson of Annapolis and Courtney Ann Johnston and husband, Brian, of Washington, D.C. Until 1991, he was married to Ann Sexton. He is also survived by a sister and a nephew. The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 p.m. on March 12 at the Arehart-Echols Funeral Home in La Plata, where a service of remembrance will be held at 2 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society.
