Paul was raised in St. Mary?s County. He served in the United States Army from 1951 to 1953. He worked 25 years for the Naval Ordnance Station, known now as the Indian Head Division, Naval Surface Warfare Center located in Indian Head, Maryland until his retirement. Paul was very loving, loyal, high spirited and fun to be around. He was always there to lend a helping hand, most of the time without being asked. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. A few of his favorite pass times were fishing; making his famous wooden Crosses for friends and family; shooting the breeze with the boys next door; participating in activities held at the Garvey Senior Citizen?s Center; and mostly, being a brother in the Elks Pride of St. Mary?s, Lodge 1120.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Agnes Loretta Dyson and Son-in-Law George L. Dyson, Sr. He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife Mary Imogene, his daughters, Paula and Shawn Somerville, Chirleen Eaton Marvin and Paula D. Thomas Deon. Sons, Zachary Stewart and Brian Fenwick Angie. Grandchildren, Shantel and Shanae Thomas, Rickya Stewart, Jeremiah Reed, Gia and Jordan Beaton. Brothers, Joseph Lee Delores, and Jimmy Tootie Somerville. Sisters-in-Law, Shirley Thomas Bush, Frances Bug Makle, Ann Slater, Marie Stewart, Tammie Thompson, Denise Al Esquilin, Delores Cornelius Woodson. Brothers-in-Law, James, Jr. Alice, Joseph Jean and Charles Stephanie Stewart. In addition to a host of nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 26, 2006 from 9:00AM to 11:00AM in St. Joseph?s Catholic Church, Morganza, MD. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00AM in St. Joseph?s Church. Father Keith Woods and Father Damien Shadwell will concelebrate the mass. Internment will take place at Queen of Peace Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Brinsfield Funeral Home, Leonardtown, Maryland.
