Richard Alan Kramer, 56, died from cancer at home on Sunday, July 30. He lived in Port Tobacco, MD.

Mr. Kramer is survived by his loving wife, Diane Burnette Kramer, to whom he was married on May 8, 1982. He also survived by many other loving family members and friends, including his mother, Annette Newman Kramer; his brothers, Thomas and his wife Meredith and Edward ?Woody? and his wife Peggy; his step-sons, Scott Righter and his wife January and R.C. Righter; granddaughters Connie Righter, 16, Bethany Righter, 11, and their mother and step-father Jeannie and Ronnie Spittle, and Summer Righter, 1; nephews Kris, Evrett, Josh, Matt, Zach and Logan; nieces Tammy and Emily; and sister-in-law Charla ?Shorty? Burnette and partner Frank Bailey. He follows in the memory of his late father, Sigmund Kramer.

Mr. Kramer was born on September 16, 1949 in Newark, N.J., and he grew up in Hicksville, N.Y. He graduated in 1971 with his B.A. from Syracuse University. Mr. Kramer then moved to the Washington area to study at the Catholic University of America Columbus School of Law, and he was awarded his J.D. in 1974.

Mr. Kramer was Managing Partner of Kramer & Levine, P.A. in La Plata, MD. He was an attorney who specialized in commercial real estate and finance. He was dedicated to his practice, which encompassed U.S. and international clientele with a special focus on the Netherlands.

Rick will be remembered for his kindness, his sense of humor, and his warm and abiding love for his family and friends. He will be missed as deeply as he was loved.

In Lieu of flowers contributions may be sent to the American Cancer Society, Hospice of Charles County, and the Humane Society.

Funeral services will be held on Friday August 4, 2006 at the La Plata United Methodist Church at 12 Noon. Interment will be private. The family will receive friends after the service in the church hall. Arrangements are being provided by Arehart-Echols Funeral Home, P.A. La Plata, MD.
