79, of White Plains

Robert Charles Cowan, 79, of White Plains died Sept. 8, 2003 at Civista Medical Center, La Plata. He was a memeber of the Moose Lodge, American Legion, and a member of 2nl Club. He worked at Goddard Space Center, Salvation Army and was Assitant Division Chief of Management Services at N.A.S.A. He was a Navy Veteran of World War II. Born July 12, 1924 in Rome, New York he was the son of the late Robert Cowan and the late Ivy Anderson Cowan. He is survived by his wife, Lois Cowan of White Plains; son, Robert M. Cowan, of Owings, MD; daughter, Laura D. Cowan, of Greensboro, NC, and Joan M. Wolfgang, of Chesapeake Beach, MD; step-child, Berna Claspell, of Port Tobacco, MD, step-child Thomas Best, of Welcome, MD; sister, Betty Dyson, of Bend, OR; 12 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held Wednesday, Sept. 10 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at Arehart-Echols Funeral Home, La Plata. Services will be held Thursday, Sept. 11 at 9:30 a.m. at the Funeral Home. The Rev. Don Benjamin will officiate. Bruial will take place at Maryland Veterans Cemetery, Cheltenham, MD.
