Born May 17, 1926 in Glen Morgan, West Virginia to the late Glema Lynn Maddy Ottey and William R. Ottey. He served in the U. S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He was a Pipe Fitter with the Steamfitters Union Local 602. Mr. Ottey liked to work especially in his yard and garden. He could fix practically anything and enjoyed piddling with projects. He was raised with the Presbyterian faith and was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Takoma Park, Maryland.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Ottey was preceded in death by his son Mark Allen Ottey; grandson Kyle Allen Ottey; brothers Louis, William and Raymond Ottey.
He is survived by his wife May Bendel Ottey; children Hugh R. Ottey, Matthew L. and his wife Sandra Ottey, James D. Ottey and Julia L. Merkel; sister Mary Meade; grandchildren Kevin, Robert, Cassie, Steven, Kattie, James, Jesse and Stevie; great grandson Daniel.
Friends received on Sunday, April 24, 2005 from 2-4 and 6-8PM at the Brinsfield-Echols Funeral Home, P.A. 30195 Three Notch Road Charlotte Hall, Maryland where Funeral Services were held on Monday, April 25, 2005 at 11AM with the Reverend Dan Howard Pastor of Bayside Baptist Church in Chesapeake Beach, MD officiating. Interment Trinity Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers were Mr. Ottey?s sons and grandsons.
