Born March 3, 1959 in New Haven, Connecticut to Gilbert Doel and the late Mary L. Fitzgerald Doel. Served in the U. S. Navy for twenty years before retiring. Later, started working for the Accokeek Foundation in Accokeek, Maryland as the Maintenance Manager. Rob was a member of BEMANCO Beach Management Corporation, a member of the Mechanicsville Moose Lodge Number 495, a life member of the AMVETS Maryland Post Number 6 and a certified Dive Master with American Red Cross CPR and First Aid certification for Scuba Diving. He enjoyed boats, jet skis, scuba diving, flirting, and one of his greatest pastimes was cooking hence he earned the nickname ?Mr. Belvedere?. Rob was a very generous person who liked to help anyone he could.
In addition to his father, his wife Susan J. Doel; daughters Jennifer Johnson and Cristin Owens; sons Christopher Richards, Stephen Crist, Robert Doel and Sean Doel; brother Stephen Doel; his son?s finance Rachel Yost and her son Jody Michael Drury survive him.
Friends received on Saturday, June 14, 2003 from 2-4 and 6-8PM with Memorial Services at 7PM at the Brinsfield-Echols Funeral Home, P.A. 30195 Three Notch Road Charlotte Hall, Maryland. Reverend James Chance will officiate. Service and Interment 11AM Monday, June 16, 2003 at the Maryland Veterans Cemetery Cheltenham, Maryland with Military Honors.
