Life Legacy

Rosarie (Rosie) Votta passed away on December 29th surrounded by her family at the St. Maryโ€™s Hospice House after fighting cancer. She was born on January 20th 1934 to her loving parents, Carmen and Jennie Pinto, in South Philadelphia, PA. She attended Hallahan Catholic Girls High school, graduating in 1952. After high school mom worked at an accounting firm. Growing up Rosie spent her summers in Atlantic City where her grandparents owned a home. She and her cousins worked in a local restaurant and spent their evenings on the Steel Pier. She married the love of her life, Frank (Sonny) Votta on April 21st 1956 at St. Paulโ€™s Catholic Church in South Philly. After living with her father-in-law for several years they built a home in Cinnaminson, NJ. In 1964 they welcomed their first child, Joseph Votta, to the family. Four years later came their daughter, Amy Matzdorf. In 1976 they moved to Annapolis Maryland for Dadโ€™s work with the Navy.

Rosarie was active in their parish at St. Andrewโ€™s by the bay Catholic Church, working on the parish council and with the Ladies Club. In the 80โ€™s and 90โ€™s she worked at the local high school as a lunch ladies where every day there could be heard,โ€Hey Rosieโ€ from the students. She worked with a great group of ladies and enjoyed her time at Broadneck. At Christmas time Rosie could be found serenading friends and family with Christmas songs on the piano. She was a wonderful seamstress and crafter and sold her wares with her beloved friend Sue Takesian at many craft shows. After retirement they moved to Ocean City, MD where they enjoyed the beach, the boardwalk and the local casino. Dad joined mom in the crafting business and they did many craft shows together. Rosarie will be missed by many friends and family including her son Joe, his wife Chrissy, her daughter Amy and her husband Craig and her three fabulous grandchildren Kathryn Rose Matzdorf, Jeffrey Allen Matzdorf and Kristen Marie Matzdorf, her brother Vincent Pinto and his wife Rusty of Satellite Beach, Fl., and many many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 5, 2016 from 11:00 AM โ€“ 1:00 PM in St. Luke Catholic Church Ocean City, MD with Father Paul Jennings officiating. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 1:00 PM with Father Paul Jennings officiating. Interment will be held on Friday, January 8, 2016 at 11:00 AM in Queen of Peace Catholic Cemetery Helen, MD with Father David Beaubien officiating. Pallbearers will be: Craig Matzdorf, Jeffrey Matzdorf, James Scoles, Michael Scoles, David Ryan and Eddie Ryan. Honorary Pallbearer will be Vincent Pinto.
