Reuben Leroy “Skeets” Richardson, Jr., 91, of Mechanicsville, MD passed away October 10, 2014, which was also his 72nd wedding anniversary, at Genesis Health Care in Waldorf, MD. Born on February 3, 1923 in Richmond, VA, he was the son of Reuben Leroy Richardson, Sr. and Angela Hedges Richardson.
He grew up in Edmonton, MD and worked in Space Management for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for 36 years. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the Army Air Corps in Italy. He has lived in Golden Beach for the past 33 years and has been enjoying his retirement. Skeets loved the outdoors, especially fishing, crabbing, boating and playing golf. He also liked to play bingo, duck pin bowling and special times with his family.
In addition to his parents, Skeets was predeceased by his sister, Shirley Graham.
Skeets is survived by his wife of 72 years, Marian Richardson; sons, Kenneth (Becky), Mark (Jackie) and Keith (Chris) Richardson; five grandchildren; John, David, Aaron, Paige and Erica; and six great-grandchildren, Lance, Logan, Aidan, Avery, Aileen and Emma.
Family and friends will be received to celebrate Skeets’ life during a Memorial Service on Saturday, October 18, 2014 at 12:00 p.m. at All Faith Episcopal Church, 38885 New Market Turner Road, Mechanicsville, MD 20659. Inurnment will take place at Maryland Veterans Cemetery, Cheltenham, MD at a later date.
