Thomas L. Paich died in Medstar Georgetown University Hospital, Washington, D.C. with family by his side on December 29, 2020 at age 73.
Tom is preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Betty Paich of Sterling,VA and his infant brother, Robert.
He is survived by his wife, Gail Sellers Paich of Piney Point, MD; his siblings, Ron Paich (Candy) of Oakland, TN; Beth Vico (Jack) of Sterling, VA; James Paich (Sherry) of Hamilton, VA; Robin Cortright (Tim) of Indian Trail, NC and 27 nieces and nephews.
Tom was born on March 16, 1947 in Rockland, PA.
In 1965, he entered the United States Air Force at the age of 17 in Freehold, NJ. He served in Korea, Germany and stateside before leaving active duty and relocating to Dover, DE. He joined the Air Force Reserve and started a construction company.
He later went back on active duty in a test program for the Air Force Reserve and then as a recruiter. In 1988, he again entered active duty working for the Office of Special Investigations (OSI) as Personnel Superintendent for their Reserve program, stationed at Bolling AFB, D.C. In 1994, he retired from the Air Force as a Chief Master Sergeant after 30 years of service.
Tom met Gail at Dover AFB and they were married in 1982. She was also in the Air Force.
Tom was a master carpenter and proficient in all trades of building homes. He was generous with his skills and always willing to help others with their projects. He could basically repair anything and find a way to solve problems with his talents. He was an avid boater, loved fishing and they lived on their boat “Livn R Dream” for 6 years before buying their dream home on St George’s Creek in Piney Point, MD. He enjoyed spending time with his beloved dog Misty, she was always by his side and went everywhere he did.
He was a lifetime member of the Air Force Sergeants Association, a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose and a member of the American Legion.
