William Francis Goodwin, 77, of Lexington Park, MD died August 18, 2007 at his residence.

Born March 19, 1930 in Oxon Hill, MD, he was the son of the late William Henry and Eva Tennyson Goodwin.

He graduated from Great Mills High School and served in the United States Marine Corps.

He worked for the Pepsi Cola Company, the A&P Store in Lexington Park and Hewitt?s Lumber and Hardware Store in Lexington Park, where he advanced to the position of Front Store Manager. He spent 33 years at Hewitt?s and developed numerous loyal customers due to his substantial knowledge of repair and replacement parts and his ability to cheerfully assist in providing solutions to household problems. He served 17 years with the Lexington Park Rescue Squad. In later years, he worked as a clerk at Canopy Liquors in Lexington Park.

He enjoyed his retirement and especially enjoyed just being at home with Joanne or sitting on his porch reminiscing with his brothers who frequently dropped in for a visit.

He was affectionately called ?Big Brother? by his siblings and ?Pop? by his step- children.

He is survived by his wife, Joanne, three step-children, Tommy, Cindy, and Judy and her husband, Jose, siblings, George L. Goodwin of California, MD, Mary V. Spears of Cambridge, MD, Hilda M. Russell of St. Petersburg, FL, and Helen E. Goodwin of Piney Point, MD, seven step-grandchildren, and eight step great- grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Lillian R. Goodwin, brothers, Melvin E. Goodwin, Norman J. Goodwin, and Lewis E. Goodwin and sister, Shirley J. Lozen.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 23, 2007 from 5-8:00 p.m. in the Brinsfield Funeral Home Chapel, Leonardtown, MD. Prayers will be recited at 7:00 p.m. A Graveside Service will be conducted on Friday, August 24, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. in Charles Memorial Gardens, Leonardtown, MD. Reverend Jack Kennealy will conduct the service.

Serving as pallbearers will be Johnny Chapman, Ray Adams, Jose Prince, Jose Prince, Jr., Kevin Dillow, and Charlie Shorback.
