At 1:45 p.m.ย Monday, a black male in a hood and sunglasses pulled off a robbery at the Maryland Bank and Trust on Shangri-La Drive in Lexington Park.
It was not immediately known how much money the man made away with.
Witnesses said the robber was poking around under his shirt, indicating he was armed. He was described as a black male approximately 6-foot, thin build, 30-35 years of age, wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, black pants and dark sunglasses.
Police swarmed the area searching for the man, who left on foot.
In the alley next to Raleyโs furniture, police located a hooded sweatshirt and sunglasses, possibly worn by the suspect.
Moments after the robbery, a volunteer rescue squad responded to the bank to tend to an employee who was having chest pains on the scene.
A bloodhound tracking dog has been brought to the scene from Calvert County.
St. Maryโs Bureau of Criminal Investigations (BCI) Commander Rick Burris reports the suspect told a clerk he had a gun and demanded money. The clerk complied and the suspect fled on foot.
BCI detectives continue to investigate the incident.
