To all the wonderful citizens of St. Mary’s County, just a short reminder that on Sunday at 2 a.m., it’s that time of the year when we get to turn our clocks back one hour for daylight saving time and in doing so we will all be able to enjoy an extra hour of sleep before we have to get up and fix everyone breakfast.
The members of the Bay District Volunteer Fire Department would like to ask you that after you finish that nice breakfast with the family and are all rested up from that extra hour’s sleep would you please take a little time and replaceย the battery in your smoke alarm. For the price of a battery, $1, and the five minutes that it will take you to do it, you and your family can sleep in peace at night knowing that your smoke alarm is always on the alert for the smell of smoke, kind of like having one of our firemen on duty in the house all the time. Now you can’t beat that can you, and it’s allย just for the price of a 9 volt battery.
Now while I have your attention, how about one more favor from our members? Would you please take some time of that hour extra you got to have a home fire drill with all the family? Some of you have probably already done this, as this was a major part of our fire prevention program in the schools this year and I’m sure that your children brought that message home to you then. If they did that’s great and it makes us feel real good that all the hours that we put into going to the schools and daycares in our area were well worth it.
Thanks for all your support and remember “Smoke Alarms Save Lives”.
