GREAT MILLS, Md. — We are receiving reports of a serious motor vehicle accident this evening that sent two to the hospital with life threatening injuries.

At approximately 12:38 a.m. on July 3, first responders were dispatched to the 19000 block of Point Lookout Road in the area of Hilton Ridge Drive for a serious crash involving an overturned vehicle. First responding units discovered a single vehicle which had run off the road, hitting mailboxes and striking a utility pole before coming to rest upside-down.ย 

Two occupants were found inside the vehicle and were extricated from the vehicle. Soon after they were transported to Great Mills High School where they were flown out by Maryland State Police Aviation to a nearby trauma center.

Both patients had what were described as having life-threatening injuries. One patient was described to be alert following the accident, while the other was listed as unconscious.ย 

The road was closed for an extended period of time following the accident.
