CALIFORNIA, Md. – Police are investigating a crash that was caused by a medical emergency, Sunday afternoon, March 10 in California.

The crash happened around 3:30 p.m. on Route 235 and Route 4. According to police, a controlled dangerous substance (CDS) is believed to have played a role in the medical emergency and crash. 

A St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office representative told TheBayNet the driver was treated on scene and taken to a hospital.  The driver will be charged at a later date if CDS usage is proven to be true, police say. 

No other injuries were reported.
