Reconnect with the environment at RiverFest! The fourth-annual celebration of the St. Maryโs River will take place at Historic St. Maryโs City on Saturday, September 27th from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., rain or shine. ย
Nearly half of St. Maryโs County residents live within the boundaries of the St. Maryโs River watershed, but few realize they do.ย RiverFest reconnects the community to the river and the outdoors through hands-on activities and speakers.ย Discover ways to enjoy, improve, protect, and promote the well-being of the river. ย
Take a ride on the The Dee of St. Maryโs, a local skipjack.ย Try tonging for oysters and river seiningโwho knows what youโll come up with.ย Paint a pumpkin, explore the wild world on a nature walk, and meet your feathered neighbors on a bird-watching hike.ย Experience the beauty of the river from land and water. ย
Visitors to RiverFest will learn about local organizations, experiments, development, and activities that impact the St. Maryโs River watershed, as well as other watersheds of the Chesapeake Bay.ย Enjoy live musicย by Indian Summer, The Dance Hall Ghost, The Piney Point Playboys, and Magpie.ย Food and drinks will be available. ย
Admission to special RiverFest activities and all exhibits at Historic St. Maryโs City is free for the day.ย The event is sponsored by St. Maryโs River Watershed Association, a grassroots organization that has been working since 2002 to protect and enhance the watershed.ย Learn more by calling Todd Rudolph at (312) 636-1253 or Bob Lewis at (301) 862 – 3517 or set your browser to www.smrwa.org.
