LEXINGTON PARK, Md. – A dog known as Sperry, who reportedly went missing in the aftermath of a single vehicle accident on November 27, has been found dead.

On November 27, an unidentified motorist and Sperry were traveling on Three Notch Road near Evergreen Park in Lexington Park. The motorist lost control of their vehicle and struck a utility pole causing a brush fire. The motorist was transported to St. Maryโ€™s Hospital and crews worked to put out the fire. Later on, it was revealed that shortly after the accident, Sperry got loose from the vehicle and went missing.ย ย

Missing posters were shared through social media and good Samaritans searched the area of accident in efforts of bringing Sperry home. Unfortunately, on November 28, Facebook users, Pamela Brien and Lauren Anderson posted updates to the “Southern Maryland Lost and Found Pets” group stating that Sperry had been hit by a car and passed away soon after.

Brien and Anderson went on to thank the people who helped search for Sperry as dozens of pet lovers gave their condolences.
