Saturday morning, 19 May, at 9: 17 a.m. fire units from Leonardtown, Hollywood, Seventh District, Bay District Company 9; Leonardtown Company 19 and Hollywood Company 79 were dispatched for a reported working building fire at the Kentucky Fried/Taco Bell restaurant at the corner of Point Lookout Road and Newtowne Neck Road. Initially, restaurant employees smelled smoke inside the building.

Chief 1 arrived on the scene at 9:18 and established Incident Command while reporting โ€œnothing evident.โ€ He was followed by ambulance 197 at 9:19. Leonardtown Engine 10 and Truck 1 arrived at 9:23 followed by Engine 11 at 9:26.

At 9:27, Chief 1 announced he was โ€œholding all Co 1 units, Engine 73 and ambulance 197.โ€ย For the next twenty minutes, firefighters investigated the source of the smoke. In short order, they determine the source of the smell was smoking materials outside the building.ย Chief 1 terminated command at 9:47 and all units were back in service by 10 a.m.
