Lexington Park, MD – At about 8:59 p.m. March 9 the Bay District and Hollywood Volunteer Fire Departments responded to a reported vehicle fire on Redwood Lane in California.
The 2002 Ford Excusion SUV belonging to Michael Lorenzini was discovered in flames in front of the attached garage by a neighbor.
The fire originated in the engine of the SUV and spread to the garage. The fire was extinguished before it spread from the garage to the house.
It took 20 firefighters about five minutes to control the flames.
The cause of the fire was an electrical malfunction in the engine of the vehicle. The vehicle was destroyed and the fire caused moderate damage to the garage. Damage is estimated at $40,000.
