One Transported To Trauma Center After Serious Crash, Vehicle Fire In California

CALIFORNIA, Md. — One person was injured in a serious two-vehicle crash that resulted in a vehicle fire Wednesday evening.

The incident was reported at approximately 5:15 p.m. on April 1, 2026, on Three Notch Road in the area of Checkers at 45500 Miramar Way. Crews arrived to find one vehicle on fire. Bystanders, along with two firefighters from Bay District and Ridge, reportedly removed the occupant from the burning vehicle.

Emergency responders requested a medical helicopter; however, Trooper 7 was unable to respond due to weather conditions. The patient was instead transported by ground to UM Capital Region Medical Center for treatment of injuries.

A second vehicle involved in the crash was located down Three Notch Road near the Super 8 Motel. Emergency medical services evaluated one person from that vehicle, who declined transport and reported no injuries.

METCOM and the Maryland State Highway Administration were requested to respond after a crosswalk sign was struck during the crash.

Southbound Three Notch Road was partially shut down as crews worked the scene.

Police are investigating the cause of the crash.

  1. Speed limit in that area is 45mph, the amount of damage done, that vehicle was doing 65 plus

  2. The guy who was flown out was traveling north bound on South bound rt 235 at a high rate of speed

  3. The article is wrong. Me and two other guys, had him out of the car before firefighters ever showed up. Yes, he was going the wrong way at a very high rate of speed.
