HOLLYWOOD, Md. – Historic Sotterley is offering a special tea party in honor of America’s 250th on Saturday, July 18, 2026 at 2:00 pm. The tea will take place in our beautifully renovated Historic Barn event space and will include a special presentation on George Washington’s Spies by Historic Sotterley’s Interpretive Programs Manager, Katherine Humphries. Also called the Culper Spy Ring, Washington’s spies were a civilian intelligence network that provided critical information to help in the American Revolution.
The afternoon’s menu will include delicious tea faire, including Sally Lunn Cake, a favorite of George Washington, paired with two different teas and refreshing lemonade. The event will also feature a door prize drawing.
This is a wonderful opportunity to enjoy an elevated Saturday afternoon at Historic Sotterley while delving into a complex and fascinating piece of American Revolution history. The ticket price also includes a free guided tour, which attendees can take advantage of at our 10:30 am or 12:30 pm tour times on Saturday. Attendees are encouraged to arrive early to take advantage of their tour or enjoy our exhibits and Colonial Revival gardens.
