A 21-year-old Indian Head man was killed Thursday afternoon in a crash on Route 228 near Bunker Hill Road.
The Maryland State Police, La Plata barracks, reports that excessive speed on Prophet’s part resulted in him losing control and going off the road shortly before 11 a.m.
Deshann Cordell Prophet was heading west on Route 228 in a Ford Crown Victoria when he went off the road and struck a metal utility pole.
Police and emergency medical volunteers arrived and determine that Prophet died on the scene. His body was transferred to the Chief Medical Examiner’s Office in Baltimore.
Trooper Sorenson is continuing the investigation.
