CALIFORNIA, Md. — Halloween enthusiasts in Southern Maryland will soon have another reason to celebrate as Spirit Halloween prepares to return to California. Its seasonal pop-up store in the former JoAnn Fabrics location at 22576 MacArthur Blvd., Suite 300, is being transformed into a one-stop destination for costumes, décor and spooky attractions.
Opening Planned For Mid-August
The seasonal retailer is expected to open in mid-August as part of its annual nationwide rollout of more than 1,500 temporary stores across the United States and Canada ahead of the Halloween season.
Known for its immersive shopping experience, Spirit Halloween offers a wide selection of costumes for infants, children, teens and adults, along with themed accessories, makeup, animatronics, home décor and party supplies. The retailer has become a seasonal tradition for many families, with stores typically operating through early November.

More Than Costumes
Beyond Halloween merchandise, Spirit Halloween continues to support its national Spirit of Children initiative, which raises funds to help create child-friendly spaces in hospitals across North America. Since launching in 2006, the program has raised more than $127 million for pediatric health care partners.
The retailer also brings seasonal employment opportunities to the community each year, typically hiring store managers, assistant managers, sales associates and cashiers ahead of the busy Halloween season.

Fall Shopping Season Begins
The return of Spirit Halloween fills another vacant storefront left behind following the closure of JoAnn Fabrics while signaling the unofficial start of the fall shopping season in St. Mary’s County.
Residents can expect an official grand opening announcement in the coming weeks as preparations continue inside the former JoAnn Fabrics location.
