Senior defender Abby Johnson (Barnesville, MD/Poolesville) was chosen as a Second Team All-American selection by www.womensfieldhockey.com as announced in a press release. Johnson was also selected as a First Team All-Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) defender as well as a First-Team National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) All-South Region performer this season.

Johnson started all 17 contests this season for the Seahawks and recorded one defensive save. She anchored a defense that allowed just 17 goals on the season and ranked second in the country in shutout percentage (0.53) and fifth in goals against average (0.92). Johnson was also a four-year starter for the Seahawks during her collegiate career and was one of only two seniors on this year’s roster to start all 69 contests of her career.

As a team, the Seahawks finished the season with a 12-5 overall record and 4-2 mark in the conference. It is the second consecutive season that the team finished with a 12-5 record, which is the best in program history. They lost to Salisbury, 6-2, in the CAC tournament semifinals.
