Leonardtown was the place to be Friday, Nov. 26 as holiday cheer filled the square.ย 

Emcee Arthur Shepherdย introducedย singers and dancers to the stage for holiday performances which kept the crowd entertained for hours. Hayden Hammett kicked off the event by singing the National Anthem.ย Other performances included St. Aloysius Church โ€Spirit Singersโ€, St. Maryโ€™s Ryken High School Choir, Emma Raphael, Gracieโ€™s Guys and Gals Dance Troupe,ย  Leonardtown Middle School and Piney Point Elementary School Choirs and Bella School of Music students.

Holiday festivities around the Square and down Fenwick Street included rides in sleighs, trains, firetrucks and horse and carriages. Families also enjoyedย a petting zoo, live nativity, face painting, make-and-take crafts for children, an ice sculpture demonstration, cookie decorating at the โ€œGingerbread Houseโ€ (Kevinโ€™s Corner Kafรฉ) and more!ย 

Kids were delighted to meetย Frosty the Snowman, Mrs. Claus, andย Santa Claus, who arrived at 7 p.m. to light the town Christmas tree.

Christmas on the Squareย was sponsored by the Leonardtown Volunteer Fire Department, the Leonardtown Business Association, the Commissioners of Leonardtown, and community partners Quality Built Homes, Winegardner Auto Group, Sabre Systems and College of Southern Maryland.ย
