At 3:12 on Sunday, September 11, 2011, rescue crews from Mechanicsville VFD Co. 2, Mechanicsville VRS Co. 29, and Hughesville VFD/RS Co. 2 were dispatched for a personal injury accident at the intersection of New Market Turner Road and Three Notch Road with reports of possibly one ejected. Crews made a rapid response and arrived on scene to find two vehicles in a t-bone style with one serious injury who would be extricated from the vehicle and other less serious injuries. The paramedic unit from Hughesville transported the seriously injured patient to Lettie Dent Elementary school to meet Trooper 7 for a medevac while Mechanicsville transported the others.
