Luke Erly is a lifelong Calvert County resident from Huntingtown with a passion for telling the stories of the people who make Southern Maryland a stronger place. While studying History and Economics at the University of Oxford, Luke has been actively involved in student journalism with The Oxford Student, where he has enjoyed meeting fascinating people and covering stories that matter. He is especially passionate about highlighting influential community members, learning what drives them, the challenges they face and how others can support their work. When he's not writing, Luke enjoys cycling through Calvert County, especially around North Beach and Fairhaven, where he appreciates some of the Chesapeake Bay's best views. One of his favorite local traditions is stopping at Bowen's Grocery for a whoopie pie to fuel his rides. After spending time abroad, Luke has developed an even greater appreciation for Southern Maryland and is committed to showcasing the people, places and stories that make the region unique.
