An improvised incendiary device was found Sunday, May 4 in Huntingtown, state officials reported. According to the Maryland State Fire Marshalโ€™s Office, the device was located in a metal mailbox at a residence on Holland Cliffs Road shortly before 3 p.m.

There were no injuries reported and no indication from investigators that the device exploded.ย  The occupant of the house made the discovery and notified police.

โ€œAnyone who lives along Holland Cliffs Road who observed an unusual vehicle or pedestrian traffic during the day on May 4 is asked to contact the State Fire Marshal, Southern Regional Office at 443-550-6820,โ€ stated Dfm. J. Ray.

The Calvert County Sheriffโ€™s Office assisted in the investigation.
