Waldorf, MD – Southern Maryland came into the Friday evening, June 12 game against the Camden Riversharksย with 31 hits in the last three games.ย The Blue Crabs used a mix of timely hitting, and good pitching as they won game two of the four game set by the final of 7-2.
After scoring a run in the bottom of the second, Southern Maryland scored three runs in the bottom of the fourth.ย Zach Wilson led off the inning with a walk, followed by a Jake Opitz double to score Wilson.ย After a Jovan Rosa walk, Jamar Walton singled to left to score Opitz.ย A few batters later with the bases loaded, the Blue Crabs leader in walks, Fred Lewis, walked to force in a run to make it 4-0.
Game three of the four game set will take place Saturday evening.ย The first pitch is set for 6:35 p.m.ย Lefty Brian Burres (1-3, 4.17) will start for Southern Maryland, while another southpaw, Ryan Kulik (4-2, 4.38), will throw for Camden.
