WALDORF, MD – The Blue Crabs erupted for a big day offensively pounding out 17 hits, in extras, winning 6-5 after Bryant Nelson walked it off with an RBI single to salvage a tie in the four game series on Sunday afternoon at Regency Furniture Stadium.
Blue Crabs starting pitcher Gaby Hernandez received his 7th no decision of the season, allowing just two earned runs, three hits and striking out six.ย However, Hernandez sports a 4.41 ERA largely due to his three starts where he has allowed four or more earned runs in an outing, none of which lasted into the seventh inning.
The York Revolution scored the first two runs in the top of the second inning, the first run scored on an error by Blue Crabs right fielder Ryan Kilmon, who made his season debut with the team this afternoon.ย The second run scored on an RBI double hit by right fielder Kevin Rivers.
The Blue Crabs answered in the bottom of the frame with two runs of their own to tie the game with RBI singles by short-stop Eric Garcia and center fielder Dโarby Myers who is now on an 8 game hitting streak.ย In the bottom of the third, catcher Angel Flores hit a moon shot to left field, hitting the top of the clubhouse roof for a two-run home run.
Kilmon hit an RBI double to help the Blue Crabs pull away from the Revs but in the fifth, York inched their way closer to the Crabs by adding on a run cutting the lead 5-3.ย It became a one run ball game in the seventh when Yorksโ short-stop Josh Wilson scored on another error by Blue Crabs Kilmon and in the top of the ninth inning The Revs knotted it up on a pair of singles.
In the bottom of the 10th Bryant Nelson hit a walk off RBI single, scoring Norberto Susini from second base to give the Blue Crabs the 6-5 victory.ย The Blue Crabs will stay in Waldorf and continue their season long eight game homestand with four against the Skeeters.ย Game one of the series is set for 7:05 P.M. tomorrow night.
