LANCASTER,PA–The Southern Maryland Blue Crabs kept the momentum alive on Saturday night against the Lancaster Barnstormers defeating them 3-2 at Clipper Magazine Stadium.

The Crabs wasted no time getting on the board in the first inning when Antoan Richardson came home on an RBI groundout by Bryant Nelson.ย  More runs came in the fourth when Blue Crabs Zach Wilson smacked a two run home run to make the score 3-0, backing Brian Burres, who struck out five over six innings.

The Barnstormers attempted to close the gap in the fourth with a solo Sean Halton home run. Lancaster added one more in the fifth inning when Jeff Kobernus scored on an RBI single by Caleb Gindl, but that was all the offense Lancaster could put together for the game.

ย

Burres was lifted after six when Blue Crabs manager Jeremy Owens called on reliever Navery Moore to hold the Blue Crabs lead 3-2 in the sixth. Owens worked his bullpen, utilizing two more relievers to hold the lead in the eighth while RHP Cody Epply picked up his 15th save in the ninth.

The Barnstormers and Blue Crabs go at it again on July 17 in Lancaster. RHP Gaby Hernandez will toe the rubber for Southern Maryland.
