The Calvert County Commissioners voted unanimously Tuesday, Oct. 23, to appoint former Calvert County Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Carolyn McHugh to the local planning commission. McHugh, who served as the chamber president for 14 prior to retiring several weeks ago, will fill the unexpired term of the late Laben J. “Mac” McCartney. That term is due to expire next year.
“I’m sure Carolyn will do an excellent job,” said Commissioners’ President Gerald W. “Jerry” Clark [R], who referred to McHugh and the other applicant, Huntingtown businessman Daryl Hatcher, as “two outstanding citizens.”
The Calvert County Planning Commission is comprised of seven individuals appointed by the commissioners. Each serves a five-year term and the terms are staggered.
