On January 27, Deputies J. Graves and H. Adams responded to an apartment on Lawrence Avenue in Leonardtown, for a report of a domestic assault in progress.
Investigation revealed Danielle Marie Bruce, 22 of Leonardtown, was engaged in a verbal dispute with her boyfriend Douglas McArthur Lada, 20 of Leonardtown. The dispute escalated into a physical assault when Bruce hit Lada in the head several times.
Bruce was arrested for second-degree assault. As Bruce was being placed in the police cruiser, Lada became upset over Bruce’s arrest and began to yell that Bruce had not done anything wrong. The deputies asked Lada several time to stop yelling as his disorderly behavior was disturbing his neighbors. Lada refused to comply and continued to yell drawing the attention of others. Lada was told he was under arrest. As deputies attempted to handcuff Lada, he resisted arrest. Lada was placed on the ground by the deputies where he continued to resist arrest. After short struggle deputies were able to handcuff Lada.
Danielle Marie Bruce was charged with second-degree assault.
Douglas McArthur Lada was charged with failing to obey a lawful order of a police officer, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.
