PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. — In Calvert County, local officials are aiming to help connect caregivers to resources and information.
As a major part of the initiative, the Office on Aging is collaborating with the Alzheimer’s Association to offer a series of courses to teach caregivers how to navigate the responsibilities of caring for someone living with dementia. The courses are all offered virtually, and caregivers can register for individual courses or the whole series.
The mission of the Calvert County Office on Aging is to enable senior citizens to avail themselves of a full range of services and programs to maintain the best possible quality of life. The office hopes to provide opportunities and assistance for older adults and their caregivers to preserve their dignity and quality of life. The office also runs Calvert County’s senior centers.
The Alzheimer’s Association is a national organization whose mission is to end Alzheimer’s and dementia. The organization offers many ways to volunteer and fundraise for Alzheimer’s research, among many local initiatives.
The course schedule is as follows:
- Building the Foundations of Caregiving: Wednesday, July 15, at 5 p.m.
- Supporting Independence: Wednesday, Aug. 19, at 5 p.m.
