Selma, NC – A Calvert County man was killed and his wife injured in an early morning crash on Interstate 95 in North Carolina, highway patrol police reported. The crash occurred Wednesday, Jan. 10 shortly after 4 a.m. in Johnson County, NC. A passenger vehicle collided with a tractor trailer truck.
According to a North Carolina news outlet, the News-Observer, the passenger vehicle was driven by Moyean Schroeder, 62, of Prince Frederick. A passenger in the vehicleโDennis Allan Schroeder, 64, also of Prince Frederickโdied as a result of injuries sustained in the crash. Moyean Schroeder was transported to Wake Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
The tractor-trailer driver, a 46-year-old Virginia man, was not injured.
News reports stated that northbound Interstate 95 in Johnston County was closed for about three hours while police conducted crash reconstruction. The crash is being investigated by The North Carolina Highway Patrol.
Dennis Schroeder was well-known in the Calvert County community due to his community involvement. He was best known for masquerading as Santa Claus during the Christmas season.
