On June 30, St. Mary’s County Bureau of Crime Investigations’ detectives arrested Steven Joseph Brown-Santos, 20 of Leonardtown, for the June 20 carjacking and armed robbery at the Dabbs Dental Building parking lot in Leonardtown.
Detectives determined the victim was carjacked by Brown-Santos at gunpoint when he parked in the parking lot. Brown-Santos drove the victim’s car, with the victim in it, to the Leonardtown Center Shopping Center, where he robbed the victim of $37.00 and a class ring and then fled on foot, to his own car parked nearby.
The victim, Mr. Gurley, returned to the Dabbs Building suffering from chest pains and summoned help. Mr. Gurley died at St. Mary’s Hospital a short time later. Brown-Santos was charged with Armed Robbery and Carjacking.
