Waldorf, MD – The Charles County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Prince George’s County couple after they robbed a woman who they suspected had won money at a casino.
Through investigation, detectives learned the victim had been at a casino and was followed home by a man and a woman.
Mark Antoine West, 24, and Maria Cerise Wheeler, 33, both of Hyattsville, were arrested and charged with armed robbery, first-degree assault and second-degree assault in association with an armed robbery that occurred Dec. 20 at 7:13 a.m.
Charles County deputies responded to the 2100 block of Everett Court in Waldorf for the report of a robbery.
Investigation showed the victim was walking toward her house when a male suspect approached, displayed a gun and demanded money.
Investigators tracked down additional leads and subsequently identified the suspects as West and Wheeler.
Detectives obtained a search warrant for the suspects’ car and recovered a handgun and property belonging to the victim.
