Nearly two hundred children and family members participated in the Charles County Infants & Toddlers Program Winter Holiday Party held at the La Plata Fire House on Wednesday, December 15.ย
The Infants & Toddlers Program is a partnership between Charles County Public Schools and the Charles County Department of Health to provide services to children birth to age 3 with developmental delays and disabilities. ย Services available include physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, special education, audiology, vision services and service coordination. ย The goal of the program is to support families and assist children to develop to their potential and prepare them for success in school. Evaluation and services are available at no cost to the family for children who meet eligibility criteria.ย
The party was a celebration for all ages. ย Activity stations were set up around the room. The children had the opportunity to make an ornament, play musical instruments, decorate a cookie, make reindeer food, listen to The Gingerbread Man story and more. Santa made a special appearance. The children had their photo taken with Santa and received a gift. Refreshments were provided by the Charles County Public Schools Parent Center and Mr. James Richmond, Superintendent of Schools.ย
The Infants & Toddlers Program also collaborates with the Department of Recreation and Charles County Public Libraries to provide inclusive educational activities for all children in the community through classes at Elite Gymnastics and Library Story Times. ย Staff and children from these programs also participated in the holiday party.ย
