The Board of Education met Monday evening to approve appointments of six new principals and eight new vice principals, which set in motion reassignments of most elementary school principals. Four long-serving principals, Annie Blount, Deborah Hile, Peggy Mertes and Jervie Petty, are retiring at the end of this week, creating opening and a shift in assignments. The Board of Education on Monday unanimously voted to accept the Superintendentโ€™s recommendations. All changes take effect July 1.

The Board approved the appointments of the following new principals:

Stephanie Nottingham, vice principal at Eva Turner Elementary School, appointed as principal of Turner;

Kathy Kiessling, vice principal at John Hanson Middle School, appointed as principal at Hanson;

Sonia Jones, acting principal at Matthew Henson Middle School, appointed as principal of Henson;
