The Charles County Commissioners received a briefing today from Mr. Joe Frieburger of SC&H Group, LLC, a Certified Public Accounting and management consulting firm advising businesses and government on accounting, tax, profitability and strategy solutions. The presentation outlines the plan developed by SC&H Group for conducting an internal audit risk assessment of Charles County Government Departments.
Commissioner President Candice Quinn Kelly stated, “This action by the Board relates directly with the values of maintaining the highest ethical standards and continuously improving County Government, which we established when we set forth this year’s priority goals and objectives.”
As part of the internal audit risk assessment process, SC&H Group will:
• Conduct interviews with key stakeholders, including members of senior management, and other internal and external stakeholders.
• Review pertinent documents, including financial statements, strategic plans, prior audit information and findings, legislative audit reports, policies, and procedures
• Define the likelihood and impact of applicable risk factors
• Provide the Commissioners with a prioritized risk ranking
• Conduct interviews with key stakeholders, including members of senior management, and other internal and external stakeholders.
• Review pertinent documents, including financial statements, strategic plans, prior audit information and findings, legislative audit reports, policies, and procedures
• Define the likelihood and impact of applicable risk factors
• Provide the Commissioners with a prioritized risk ranking
The objective of the risk assessment is to identify the audit universe for the County and evaluate the enterprise-wide risks associated with the organization, for the purpose of selecting internal audit projects and assisting in the allocation of resources.
