LA PLATA, MD- Due to weather conditions, all Charles County public schools will open two hours late tomorrow, Thursday, March 22, 2018. Staff will continue to monitor road conditions for any additional changes to tomorrow’s schedule.
There is a code two, which is a two-hour delay, for staff that follow the code system. All morning prekindergarten classes are canceled tomorrow. The AlphaBest program at all county elementary schools will open at 8 a.m.
Parents, staff and students should check in the morning for any additional changes to the school schedule. The school system will make any decision to alter the school schedule further by 5 a.m.
Due to inclement weather, Charles County Government will open at 10 a.m. on Thursday, March 22 for all non-essential employees. The following facilities will open at 8 a.m.: Alphabest school based before/aftercare locations, including the Port Tobacco Alphabest site.
The following facilities will open at 9 a.m.:A Charles County Landfill, Landfill Recycling Center, and Pisgah Recycling Centers (Note: recycling collection is delayed one day)
The following facilities and services will begin operations at 10 a.m.: Nanjemoy Community Center, All senior centersTri-County Animal Shelter, Charles County Health Department, Lackey High School, Donald M. Wade Aquatic Center, and North Point High School indoor pools; All school-based community centers, Charles County Public Schools and activities, Crain Memorial Welcome Center, Charles County Public Library (all Branches)

The following facilities will open on time: Elite Gymnastics and Recreation Center, Port Tobacco Recreation Center, Meals on Wheels program, but some participants may experience delays due to road conditions

Leonardtown, MD – St. Mary’s County Public Schools will open 2 hrs late (Code 5 for staff) on Thursday, Mar 22, 2018. AM Pre-K and AM Head Start will not have school. However, there will be classes for PM Pre-K and PM Head Start.
All St. Mary’s County Administrative Offices will open at 10 a.m. Essential personnel should report at their normal time. The weekly Commissioners of St. Mary’s County business meeting, postponed from Tuesday, March 20, will begin at 11 a.m. in Leonardtown.
Non-Public School transportation will operate on a two hour delay.
All Recreation and Parks programs operating in the Public Schools will operate on a two hour delay. Recreation and Parks facilities will open at 10 a.m.
STS Transit will operate on a normal schedule
The six (6) Convenience Centers and St, Andrews Landfill will open at 10 a.m.
All three Senior Activity Centers (Garvey, Loffler and Northern) will open at 10 a.m. Meals will be served at the centers. Home deliveries of meals will resume.
All St. Mary’s County Library locations (Charlotte Hall, Leonardtown & Lexington Park) will open at 10 a.m.
St. Mary’s County Circuit Courthouse and District Courthouse will open at 10 a.m. with court sessions beginning at 10:30 a.m.
All College of Southern Maryland campuses will open at 10 a.m.
NAS Pax River will operate on a two hour arrival delay/Unscheduled Leave/Telework Status
Prince Frederick, MD – Calvert CountyPublicSchools will be opening 2 hours late on Thursday, March 22. Code 1 for 12-month staff. CCPS will be re-evaluating conditions early on Thursday. Any changes to this status will be made by 8 a.m.
Calvert County Government offices will open at 10:30 March 22, 2018, due to winter storm Toby. Calvert County Government offices and the circuit and district courts will open at 10:30 a.m. with liberal leave in effect. Employees must contact their supervisors to request liberal leave. The Appeal Landfill and all Calvert County convenience centers will open on time. Calvert County public libraries will open at 10:30 a.m. County parks and community centers will open at 10:30 a.m. and the Edward T. Hall Aquatic Center will open at 10:30 a.m. Chesapeake Hills Golf Course will remain closed. Transportation services will begin 10:30 a.m. Calvert County Health Department offices will open at 10:30 a.m. County senior centers will open at 10:30 a.m. Meals on Wheels will not be delivered.
The Calvert County Department of Public Safety urges residents to avoid driving while crews work to clear snow. If travel is absolutely necessary, drivers are urged to take extra precautions and take their time on the roads.
